PEACEMEAL, Lynn and Tim Welch - 703-978-4113; Catherine Long - 301-565-8050
Uses the setting of a friendly dinner with nutritious food to provide comfort to those on the fringes of society.
At PeaceMeal, the anonymous people of our streets can be greeted as friends and given a place of honor, as Jesus
would have it.  Started by St. Aloysius parishioners, uses St. Aloysius and McKenna Center facilities, but raises its
own money.  Volunteers from other parishes and organizations also participate.

HIV/AIDS MINISTRY, Lillian Mickens - 202-544-1670

Provides support for our members coping with HIV or AIDS, either physically or through a relationship with someone

who is infected or affected by this disease.  In addition, educates the parish and provides services to patients through

groups like Food and Friends.  Takes St. Aloysius as a special patron since he died ministering to plague victims.

Maintains a supportive presence by wearing the red AIDS ribbon at Mass on Sunday.

THE FR. MCKENNA CENTER, Tom Howarth - 202-842-1112 x11; Ron Rogers 202-842-1112 z13

Serves as a gathering place for the area's needy and homeless and those who minister to them.  Through such

programs as the drop-in center and winter shelter, the Center carries on Fr. McKenna's vision of treating everyone

with the dignity worthy of Jesus. Volunteers are needed to donate food, work in the shelter program, serve on the advisory

 Board and many other ways.

The mission of the St. Aloysius Pro-Life Committee is to promote respect for all life “born and unborn, young and
old, innocent and guilty, regardless of race, beliefs, ability, or status” through prayer and witness.  This mission is rooted
in the Consistent Life teachings of the Catholic Church and in the belief that all life is created by God and is precious
and holy in God's sight.

RECYCLING MINISTRY, Lisa Reardon, 301-864-4108; CarolAnne Otto, 202-399-3485

The U.S. contains 1/5 of the world’s population and uses 4/5 of the world’s resources. Recycling reduces the use of raw materials and keeps waste out of landfills. Join with others to set up systems so we can reduce our impact on the environment by recycling when possible.
